Something I never understood are the terms GLBT and LGBT. In alphabetical correctness, it would be BGLT. And to be politically correct with “equality” would it be BGHLPT? (Bisexual, Gay, Heterosexual, Lesbian, Pansexual, Transgendered)
Where I'm missing the point is here: We are a collective group that's labeled for identity. When I was younger, we were Gay. Gay man, Gay Woman. But worked together as Gay.
Why I'm concerned: When looking for information on the whole community, I have to search GLBT if I want Gay Male information and LGBT if I want Gay Female information. There is a clear division when searching the two terms.
What I'm seeing: A male/female struggle within a community that should be beyond gender politics and move forward as a family. As neighbors and friends. As a community who accepts and fights together without bias.
I understand that my site is “male” heavy in selected sections but I don't plan to exclude female talent where it applies. |
