In my quest to spotlight openly gay profiles, I had a chance to speak with someone whose movies I have followed over the last few years. Award winning film director, writer and special effects guru, Joe Castro.

HS: As I understand it, you got your first break with a Special Effects contest. Can you tell me more about the contest and how it opened your door to Movies?

JC: I was 15 years old when I won. The editor of the magazine, I won the contest in, was Forrest J Ackerman. The grand prize was a trip to Hollywood were I was introduced to Joe Dante, John Carl Buechler, Doug Beswick, David DeCoteau Sabin Gray, Brinke Stevens and many others in the same field who all very supportive and nurturing souls who are still my teachers today.

HS: Were you Open with your sexuality or did you come out later in your career?

JC: Have u seen what I look like! I was a total prick tease to all men starting at the age of 5. there was never any reason for me not to be openly gay. I was a gay bully to all guys by the age of 10. By 18 I was a state waterpolo champion and would sexually harass any guy on the jr. varsity football team…when ever I liked.



HS: Has being out of the closet stopped you from getting hired for any jobs?

JC: Yes. The sad part is that the gay community pays this secret homo-hater fuck wad fat ass loser to produce a very popular Gay TV series right now and he get’s paid good money and does a shitty piss poor job. It make me sick and if the gays knew the truth he would suffer.

HS: With the growing popularity of Queer-Scare, do you see yourself doing any gay themed films within the horror genre?

JC: All my horror films are queer themed! Just un recognized by my gay peers! I have smoking hot bare-chested guys in all my films that are at the least in one bi-curious situations.



HS: What can you tell me about doing full body costumes for adult films?

JC: U mean what “can’t” I tell u. I work mainly in the straight adult industry and touch , smell, sometime taste and apply my FX magic to straight God like tough guys and all the while realize I should be paying the producer to do this . What can I say but when I’m on an adult set they treat me like I’m the star. I am so fortunate I am actually crying tears right now as I right this. And now I’m laughing at how gr8 my life is and realize I don’t ever live in fear for being gay…that alone is the greatest gift I have ever been freely given. I do, everything I do in mainstream films, in the adult world as well. Everything. from a full scale mechanical T-Rex head to Hyper-realistic penis’s that are so life like... the only thing about then that is fake is the fact that when u touch them they are room temperature.

HS: So it comes with rewards?

JC: I’ve had some amazingly ultra homo breeding sprees with quenessential hot “straight” guys. Let’s put it this way I don’t care how straight a guy says he is when i am applying make-up FX to his naked hard body and he is extremely impressed with my work to begin with, his meat pole is gonna get hard.

HS: From time to time, I know you hunt for investors on various projects. Most recent was for an independent web series for 10thousand (US.) If someone is interested in this or any other project, where would they apply?

HS: What do you look for in actors?

JC: Some one who has something to give to the film and not just be a part of. Muscle studs and smoking hot ladies are always welcome.
